about

liner nones:

this funky track is a tongue-in-cheek treatment of the excesses and faint nostalgia of disco. the specific disco riddim is called forth briefly, but more predominant in the riddim is reggae, funk, and good old rock. The downbeat is often a rest, like roots reggae. never in disco ! the pounding 1234 of the kick drum and slapback high-hat (bootsy bootsy bootsy) is heard here, only in parody. I missed disco (on purpose). but here it is again, in satire, even mockery. anyway you like it, have fun, that is the true meaning of this track.

instrumentation:

the only fully live instruments i am playing on this track include vocals, human sound FX, my fender strat and my fender pBass (both made in the USA). digital instruments and FX include hammond B3, kit drums, steinway grand piano, tenor sax, clavichord, etc, most of which i input playing a keyboard, then edit like hell. eitherwy, its all me, from conception to your stereo sound waves. enjoy! and email me, if you want to dig deeper, collaborate, or just rap, man, like funky, ya know?

lyrics

lyrics:

oh, what a night, what a night, what a night well all right
oh, cold outside, take a ride, take a flight outta sight

wanna go, disco, gettin funky, on a dance floor
can you feel, freedom, riddim junkie, well i want more

oh, feelin light, feelin tight, feelin right funky night

oh, gonna swing, gonna sway, gonna bop til we drop
oh, gonna sing, gonna play, gonna flip flip and flop

jump n jive, in a beer hall, with a DJ and a mirror ball
groove is live, take it all, bring it to me with some snow fall ( 8 ball )

oh, what a night, what a night, what a night don’t stop

your eyes shinin’ bright, with your inner light
if my timing is right, take my hand we’re in flight
