mellow feeling, wanderlust, moving on, slightly sad, make a smile with only half my face, heading west is what i do best, this is my life story in excerpts. as a youth the central plains and 1960s missouri was not enough, I needed to scratch my feet on the road, vibe hard with the high rocky mountains, sleep cradled in the embrace of the high sierras, see volcanoes, oceans, islands, every where and any where else. as bob said, my feet here is my only carriage, so i got to move on through. the guy in the song had need of some healing, and that's another couple chapters of my life. never satisfied, searching for something, i would fill my cup, stumble, move on, with a vague melancholy, self insight, futility, and a dash of hopefulness that there was something new and better down the road, these feelings could make me smile with only half my face. so largely biographical. following a feeling that was fomo? wanderlust? taste of first freedom? don't know, still searching...
lyrics
lyrics;
rolling with the rolling hills out west,
prairie grass in my past, i guess,
following a feeling, working out some healing,
heading out, what i do the best.
taking time, maybe i’m ok,
feeling blue, nothing new today,
fill my empty cup up, fall and then I get up,
look inside, wish it all away.
😏
make a smile, with only half my face,
another mile, another dusty place,
dancing with the notion, of driving to the ocean,
another coast, another dream to chase.
taking time, maybe i’m ok,
feeling blue, nothing new today,
fill my empty cup up, i fall and then i get up,
look inside, wish it all away.
